Recovery Gear is important to have in any 4x4 or off road vehicle. In off road situations, recovery gear allows you to safely and easily recover your vehicle from obstacles on the trail. Equipment such as tow straps, d-rings, pulleys and winches can prove invaluable on the trail and in difficult situations. Although, off roaders aren't the only drivers who could use recovery gear. Everyday drivers, long distance commuters and travelers could benefit from having some form of recovery gear for "just in case" situations. Bad weather can make any roadway treacherous and recovery gear can turn a potentially bad situation into nothing more than a speed bump. Here at Tom's 4x4 Superstore, we know recovery gear and we carry a wide variety of equipment. We can help you customize your own recovery kit or supply you with one of several complete recovery kits!

Basic Recovery -
Equipping your vehicle for basic recovery is not difficult or expensive. It's as simple as creating, utilizing and understanding tow points in the front and rear of your vehicle. In addition, keeping a few handy items such as a tow strap, d-rings, hooks and gloves tucked away in your vehicle. This equipment can be used in many ways and for many tasks. One of the more common uses would be to use one vehicle to pull another disabled vehicle out of a rut or out of harms way. There are many tow straps available today that can handle huge loads.
Equipped Recovery Vehicle -
An equipped recovery vehicle has all of the basic recovery tools, with the addition of a winch and tool set. These vehicles are ready for just about any challenge. The addition of a winch allows the equipped recovery vehicle the ability to recover itself, and eliminates the need to have a second vehicle that must be utilized in the recovery process. A winch line can be anchored to trees, rocks or other vechicles, which can be used to counter balance the recovery vehicles weight and used as leverage to pull itself to safety.
Advanced Recovery Vehicle-
Advanced Recovery Vehicles are every 4wheeler's best friend. These vehicles sport a heavy duty winch (10k or more), a jack lift, compressed air, power tools, a full automotive tool set, one or more extra batteries and of course, a CB radio and a basic recovery kit. In addition, they've usually got some spare parts stashed away just in case. Advanced Recovery is not for the highway drivers, but for those who ride long distances on backcountry trails, the ability to recover a disable or stuck vehicle is near paramount to food and water.
